Love It!!!!!!!!!!!!! March 3, 2010 Amy Ellis I use the vanilla flavor. It is great!!! Nothing I did not like about it. I really love the fact that it is one of the only powders on the market that doesn't use artificial sweeteners. All Natural! I use a scoop with a cup of frozen fruit, 1/2 cup fat free milk, blend in blender to make a great tasting shake.
Not as good as a real shake but better for your butt. February 26, 2010 snow (MD USA) I have to admit I'm not fond of stevia but it's 100x better then aspartame or splenda or any of the other non sugar sweeteners out there. So, I thought it was pretty good. It can really help curb your appetite.
Really enjoying this product. February 23, 2010 Lisa Maria Smith (Hope Mills, NC) I bought the vanilla bean whey product based on reviews from other users. In particular, the fact that one person stated one serving was 0 weight watchers points. I figured I'd give it a try. I am using it nearly everyday as a replacement for breakfast. I *try* to follow the WW system for the most part and this allows me to have a very filling breakfast smoothie. I have tried it a couple of different ways. I haven't tried it with water and based on other reviews, I won't. Instead I try it in the following ways: a scoop of powder, 1 cup fat free milk, serving of fruit - frozen strawberries, blueberries, or fresh bananas. When done this way it equals 4 WW points, not bad for breakfast. Sometimes when I am feeling a little more hungry I'll put in a teaspoon of peanut butter and guestimate my points for that meal to be around 7. It ends up tasting like a peanut butter banana milkshake. The peanut butter gives it a little thickness. Using frozen strawberries or blueberries with milk makes it more like a smoothie consistency. I work night shift so I usually drink this before I go to bed, try to sleep around 7 to 7 1/2 hours and still feel satisfied when I wake up. Other low ww points foods I've tried just don't fill me up as much.
I haven't tried it with just milk, so I'm not sure how it will taste. It's so easy to whip a smoothie up in the morning. I use the Nuwave blender a friend got me and within 2 minutes I have a breakfast whey smoothie.
Pretty gross February 10, 2010 E. Musso (Georgetown, DC) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The reviews on this product were mixed, so I decided to give it a shot. I've given my pros and cons, as well as an overall review.
PROS:
1) The powder smells really delicious and chocolatey.
2) It's low in calories, sugar content, and only uses natural sweetners.
3) It's got 120% of your daily Vitamin C, which everyone should have.
CONS:
1) It tastes absolutely AWFUL with water, which is the suggested preparation. I tried adding more powder and that made it much worse. (I have not yet tried it with milk, but that is my next step. I will alter my review if I find it favorable.)
2) As the other reviewers have mentioned, the container is not completely full. However, it seems that it was exaggerated when they said it was only half way full. Mine was 3/4 full - in otherwords, mildly annoying, but not enough to pitch a stink over.
3) The container says to add a scoop to 5oz of liquid. What's a scoop? A teaspoon? A tablespoon? A 1/4 cup? It says there are 16 servings in the can, so a scoop appears to be more like a half-cup. Because the directions are unclear, it lends itself to lots of measuring mishaps.
4) Further on #3, 5oz. of liquid is a pretty small amount - I'm not sure how 5 oz. of liquid will satisfy anyone's hunger. So, if you wanted to do a full bottle water, for example, you would need at least 3 to 4 scoops of powder, which would make this protein shake at least 200 calories.
OVERALL: What IS clear is that my intended use for the product - a simple shake that I could mix at work to curb afternoon hunger - will not be possible. I don't keep a blender or a gallon of milk at my office. So, for this, I feel like this product definitely failed to live up to expectations. Even if I were planning to use the powder to make a shake at home, with a blender and milk, in order to make it palatable, I would likely have to add things (i.e. fruit, peanut butter) that up the calorie count and make this more like a meal-smoothie, rather than a quick and easy weight-loss shake. I'm pretty disappointed, but will try the product other ways so that I don't waste my money. I don't expect to purchase again.
eh, ok January 30, 2010 whit (wisconsin) The taste was ok, the smell was horrible!!! it was hard to get down just because of the smell. I drank it after running, which it didn't really feel like it kept me full or did anything. I also tried drinking it during the day at work when i dont have time to sit down and eat [combined it with fruit and pretzels]. Not so great....if you can handle the smell, you'll probably like it. If not, pass!
